Apple Watch Series 4 Gaining Compal as Second Manufacturer to Meet Strong Demand

Image
Due to better than expected demand for the Apple Watch Series 4, Apple will be adding Taiwanese manufacturer Compal Electronics as a secondary supplier of the wearable starting from November. The addition of Compal will help reduce the load on Quanta Computer which is currently working on assembling the Apple Watch Series 4. The latter is already working at its full load and is still unable to meet the demand for the wearable whose demand has surpassed expectations. By adding a second supplier in November, Apple hopes to improve the Apple Watch Series 4 availability ahead of the key holiday season where the wearable is expected to sell like hotcakes. For the last two years, the Apple Watch Series 2 and Series 3 have managed to set a sales record for Apple in the final quarter of their launch year. Given the massive redesign and features the Apple Watch Series 4 brings to the table, the Apple Watch Series 4 is easily expected to fare better than its predecessors. The strong demand for

iPhone XS Max Outselling iPhone XS by 3-4x; Apple Watch Series 4 Demand Better Than Expected

Image
Post the launch weekend of the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and the Apple Watch Series 4, reputed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has shared a new note detailing which variant has been more popular among consumers. He notes that demand for the iPhone XS Max is higher than expected, with the device outselling its smaller 5.8-inch variant by three to four times. This is surprising since the iPhone XS Max only comes with a bigger display and offers better battery life when compared to the iPhone XS. Kuo also mentions in his note that most consumers are opting for the 256GB storage variant, with the 512GB storage option having a “serious shortage.” Samsung is the sole supplier of the 512GB NAND to Apple for the iPhone XS series as of now. Consumers are also preferring the Space Grey and Gold color in large numbers over the Silver color option. We have determined that the demand for XS Max is better than expected (3–4 times that of XS). The gold and space-grey colors are significantly more popular than

Apple Watch Series 4 a ‘Major Design Leap’ like iPhone 5; Features 4 Percent Bigger Battery

Image
The iFixit team has managed to get its hands on the Apple Watch Series 4 and posted a detailed teardown of the wearable. The team calls the leap in design, both internal and external, akin to the iPhone 5: “a device that knows its priorities, and wants to look elegant inside and out.” The Apple Watch Series 4 comes with a slimmer chassis, a 15 percent bigger edge-to-edge display, 50 percent louder speaker, and a Digital Crown with haptic feedback. Apart from improving its exterior design, Apple has also made it easier to perform in-house repair on the Apple Watch Series 4 once a user is able to get past the display. The teardown reveals that Apple has managed to fit in a 4 percent bigger battery inside the Apple Watch Series 4 — 1.113 Wh vs 1.07 Wh. This is despite the latest Apple Watch featuring a chassis that’s 6 percent slimmer. There’s also a new thinner Taptic Engine inside the Series 4 Apple Watch, though it has now become longer. It continues to take a lot of internal space tho

Apple Watch Series 4 Fall Detection Feature Put To Test

Image
When Apple unveiled the Apple Watch Series 4 alongside the iPhone XS , it made quite a bit of noise about the wearable’s new fall detection feature. The company claimed that the fall detection feature on the Apple Watch Series 4 will automatically detect a fall and call their emergency contact if they did not move in an hour.  Apple said it accurately measures fall on the Apple Watch Series 4 using a new gyroscope and accelerometer which can measure 32G of force. So, how good is the Apple Watch’s fall detection? As the folks over at What’s Inside show in their latest video, it is actually pretty darn good. Despite multiple efforts of trying to trigger fall detection by falling on a trampoline which was pretty close to how one would fall in real-life, the team was unsuccessful. It was only at the end when the What’s Inside team actually fell pretty hard on the floor that they were able to trigger fall detection on the Apple Watch Series 4. Ultimately, it looks like the fall detection m

Its vibrant, extremely bright and immerse a f. After using it for 2 hours and switching back to the 7 Plus, the 7 Plus’s 16:9 rectangle display felt slightly dated. The OLED panel is what really stood out the most. He is also impressed by the camera’s autofocus speed, though he does say that compared to Face ID, he will any day prefer Touch ID. Apple Working With Health Canada to Bring Apple Watch Series 4 ECG Feature to Canada

Image
Apple is working with Health Canada to bring the Apple Watch Series 4 ECG functionality to Canada. The ECG functionality in the Apple Watch Series 4 won’t be available at launch but it will make its way to customers in the United States via a future software update. Customers in other parts of the world will have to wait until Apple gets around to getting the required approval from local health and regulatory bodies in various countries. While it is likely that Apple is working behind the scenes to get approval from various regulatory bodies, it has so far only confirmed that it is working with Health Canada to get the necessary approval for the Apple Watch Series 4 ECG feature. Health Canada has similar regulations like the FDA in the US for an ECG device so its likely that the ECG feature of Apple Watch Series 4 will get the necessary approval sooner than later. The big issue with the Apple Watch Series 4 ECG feature that it is only capable of doing an electrocardiogram. The data fr

Apple Watch Series 4 Review Roundup: The Best Wearable Around

Image
A day after the f irst set of iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max reviews went live , the first set of Apple Watch Series 4 have now also gone live. Compared to the iPhone XS series, the Apple Watch Series 4 offers a bigger leap in terms of design, performance, and functionality with its new edge-to-edge display, thinner chassis, and features like ECG. So, what do the publications have to say about the Apple Watch Series 4? Let’s find out in our review roundup. Apple Watch Series 4 Review Roundup The Verge The new Apple Watch is all about its display. The 30 percent increase in display size might not seem like much at first but it has a huge impact. It’s still OLED so the blacks are truly black and blend into the watchface glass. But if you pick a full-screen watchface, you’ll see that the screen also goes closer to the edges of the Watch than before, including the rounded corners. The overall effect makes the square display on my Series 3 look dumpy and cramped by comparison — even though, un

iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and Apple Watch Pre-Orders Start Shipping out from China

Image
Apple has started shipping out iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and Apple Watch Series 4 for customers who pre-ordered it. The company has not updated the order status on its website but customers in the United States can use their reference number and head over to the UPS website to track their order. Apple had updated the status of most iPhone XS and Apple Watch Series 4 pre-orders over the weekend with ‘preparing to ship’  status. Customers will need to enter their order reference number, their phone, number and zip code on over UPS website. The order number minus its last two digits can also be used instead of the reference number. Customers with a UPS My Choice account can see all the scheduled deliveries on Friday from the scheduled deliveries section. The above trick might not work for all customers in the United States who pre-ordered the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, or the Apple Watch Series 4 as Apple/UPS servers might not have been updated with the required information. Apple will be
