Apple Pay Will be Available in 60% of Retail Locations in the U.S. by the End of 2018

Apple Pay continues to expand in the United States, and it looks like Apple has a pretty high bar in mind for the end of 2018. In a new report from Fortune , Apple’s Vice President of Apple Pay, Jennifer Bailey, outlines that the company expects the mobile payment option to be available in 60 percent of retail locations within the United States by the time 2018 comes to a close. “Apple expects that Apple Pay will be in 60% of U.S. retail locations by the end of the year, Bailey said. The Apple Wallet is now in 24 countries, with even faster growth outside the United States. Owners of iPhones can enter public transit with the Apple Wallet in 12 cities worldwide, including Tokyo, Beijing, and Shanghai via closed loop technology and London and Moscow via open loop technology. Transit adoption has reached particularly high penetration in Tokyo, Bailey said.” Apple Pay has expanded to 24 different countries across the globe since its debut back in 2014. The rollout hasn’t been as quick as A

The iPhone XS Max Impresses in the Right Ways

Image
2018 is an “S upgrade” year, which means that the changes from last year’s flagship, the iPhone X, are going to be pretty minimal in this year’s new models. But like years prior, that’s not a bad thing. I’ve been using the iPhone XS Max as my daily driver now since last Friday, starting in the late afternoon. I’ve already penned some first impressions of the handset, and I can safely say that now, days later, I actually like the phone even more than I did after just taking it out of the box. There is a lot to like here and that’s not just because of the bigger display — even though that has a lot to do with it. The display is where we need to start, because it’s gigantic. At 6.5 inches it’s one of the bigger options out there, which, in my opinion, isn’t worth writing home about by itself. Just having a big screen is not something to be praised for. The fact that the bezels have been reduced is a positive thing, because the iPhone XS Max feels like the iPhone 8 Plus, but there’s just

Siri Suggestions Not Coming to iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and iPhone 5s

Image
Own an  iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus and cannot wait for iOS 12 to try out Siri Shortcuts ? Well, here’s some bad news for you then. Apple has confirmed that it won’t be bringing Siri Suggestions with iOS 12 to the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus. This revelation was made by Craig Federighi, SVP of Software Engineering at Apple, as a response to an email sent to him by a Redditor . Apple executives are known to reply to various feedback emails that they receive from time to time so there’s little reason to doubt this piece of news. While the iPhone 6 will support the Shortcuts app, it will not offer AI-based Siri suggestions like it would on iPhone 6s and newer iPhones. Since the iPhone 6 will not support AI-based Siri Shortcuts Suggestions, its predecessor — the iPhone 5s — will also be on the same boat since it has even weaker internals. Given the age of both devices though, it is understandable why Apple is not able to bring Shortcut suggestions to these devices. What are Siri Suggestions?
